Well I saddled up And I looked right in the mirror Don't know when I'll be back again I think never But you can find me Leaning across the world The symbols rolling past me Tease my mind to break the mold I was looking up From a drive across the country County lines are more than just a marker But I was feeling low Fog across the water The faith is hard to grasp now But I can see the sunny side Cause I'm stuck here in god's country Looking for a little gold I don't know where I belong Or when I'll find my home Negotiating Another deal with my conscience As I hold my tongue to save another soul But I cant stand by that Keeping silent past the deadline I don't know where my voice is But I can always call I like to stay warm In my heart and with your laughter My people keep me on the ground But I can do better To make sense of the worst Play it out in nightclubs My church is for the doves Cause I'm stuck here in god's country Looking for a little gold I don't know where I belong Or when I'll find my home

about

‘A Little Gold’ is a song I started singing to myself on a bike ride in Nashville. I was passing by a lot of churches in the area and thinking about my own relationship with religion. It got me thinking about where I feel most comfortable and at home in relationship to these spaces, and how I feel like I am constantly grappling with my own personal values.

I’m just trying to find my own way in this world. I hope you can relate to this struggle, no matter what your belief system is or how you personally live your life.

This recording itself is from a live video session I was a part of at Limbo Sound Studios. It felt like a special performance, and I wanted it to be released in its most raw form.
